Hope Island Circumnavigation

Description:
This will be an exploratory trip around Hope Island on the northern end of the Gold Coast, suitable for beginners through to curious experienced paddlers.
We will start at the boat ramp at the Southern end of Jabiru Island (off Broadwater Av/ Oxley Dr ) at 8.30am. We will attempt the circumnavigation in a clockwise direction trying to avoid the various obstacles likely to be encountered, such as the tavern and Sanctuary Cove Coffee shops on the way. We should also be able to visit Hope Harbour Marina and Hope Island Resort Marina. As this is only a 14km trip we will have to see if we can get lost somewhere on the way around’ possibly up Saltwater Ck or the Coomera River for a while. When the tide turns we will follow the Coomera River around the top of Hope Island back to our starting point. This trip will generally be well protected from strong winds except for SE or NEasterlies which if forecast may necesitate an itinerary rethink.


Previous kayaking experience is NOT essential. Route and venue may change depending on weather conditions.
Rosco or Goodtime would be the choices for kayak hire (you will need to collect and return any hired kayaks).

Rob & Wendy have a couple of kayaks to hire. They are hired on a first in first served. Please ring Rob & Wendy to book and negotiate rates.
